The Open Door of Ennis Education Program
Announcing the re-opening of the Open Door of Ennis Education Program. Educator Serena Johns is a Licensed Professonal Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). Serena is a Doctoral candidate at Capella University and the clinical supervisor at West Texas Counseling and Rehabilitation Services. Educator Deborah Henderson is a LCDC and has worked with criminal justice clients for 18 years. Our desire is to provide classes to help participants understand the law and to fulfill requirments of judicial and probation/parole requirments. We believe that education is the key to help people understand and make changes in illegal and unhealthy behavior.
Classes Offered
Theft Prevention -- This class is intended for persons with a theft or shoplifting charge. It will focus on the criminal thnking and values involved in stealing to help participants understand their behaviors and make new decisions about criminal-free lifestyles. Partcipants will also be educated about the laws and penalties involving theft and shoplifting. Cost: $30.00
Phase III/Relapse Prevention -- This is Phase III of a four phase substance abuse treatment. Participants will have completed Phases I and II at another facility. Participants will be sent during the first week of the next month. Evidence of alcohol or drug use during this phase will be reported to the referring officer Immdiately. Participants in this class will work through a curriculum based on Gorski's work on relapse prevention, cognititve therapy, and criminal/addiction thinking errors. It will focus on understanding internal relapse triggers and identifying unhealthy thinking and beliefs. Participants must complete all homework for each week or classes will be added to the 12 weeks. Officers or judges will receive a copy of this plan for follow-up. Referrals for more intense treatment will be made from this class, if needed. A morning class will be added when needed. Cost: $20/per Week
Phase IV/Aftercare -- This will be a monthly class. One hour will be a time to process, when needed, or for education on relapse or coping skill as needed by the class. A speaker from a 12-Step program will tell their story or speak on a recovery issue such as one of the 12-steps. Attendance at a recovery program will also be required. Cost $20/per class
Drug Offender Education Program -- Weekly and Sunday classes as needed. State mandated and licensed program. Completion letter will be sent to a referral source within 3 business days of ending date. No-show and missed days letters will be sent the next business day. Cost $70.00
Marijuana Truths -- This class is for persons for which marijuana is their only abused substance. The class will help them understand marijuana's effect on the body and help them make healtheir choices. Cost $20.00
Driving with Suspended Licenses -- This class will help those persons caught drivng with a suspended license understand the law and the many reasons licenses in the state of Texas are suspended. This class appropriate for persons whose license is suspended because of a DWI for Administrative License Revocation education. Cost $20.00
IOP -- Intensive Outpatient & SOP -- Supportave Outpatient
